We have been following Neighbourhoods for a while, we really like what they are doing. The spicy innovation and great amount of work the team has been putting in is starting to make (social)Sense.

What is Neighbourhoods working on and what have they been doing?

The significance of separating the social sensemaker from the functions of NH-compatible widgets, in this case, from a paper annotation widget, was discussed in Neighborhoods' most recent update.

Since then, they have released a macro in the Sensemaker which we have covered, that creates widget-importable bridge call code via a wrapper to achieve type safety. Ensuring type safety can minimize runtime errors, accelerate error discovery, and make continuing program maintenance simpler. As comparable macros are frequently used by Holochain, this design will be helpful for the entire HC ecosystem.

The RUST UIs
Another method Neighbourhoods experimenting with is writing Holochain front ends in Rust/WASM rather than JavaScript. Utilizing a wrapper that permits calls to the HC conductor from within WASM UI code makes this possible.

Now this is all technical, but if you are interested in knowing more about it, click here

The DWeb Camp 2022 and Crypto Commons Gathering 2022
As for an equally important update but a tad more light-hearted, the Neighbourhoods team have been traveling to real life Crypto and Web events to educate and raise awareness on their intricate but quite interesting concepts.

In Europe, Pablo (design and ambiguous computing) has been presenting ‘Social Primitives for Groupware Design’ at the Crypto Commons Association hub.

While at the DWeb Camp Emaline (p2p media and socials on web3) and Michael (software engineer) showcased a ‘sensemaking computation’ across two applets in a Neighbourhood and connected with other projects working on reputation and social computations in web3 while presenting a demo of how you can use Neighbourhoods to design custom sets of reactions to posts and use them to influence how a social feed is ordered.

See how the sun shines over the Neighbourhood?

Neighbourhoods is based on an open source framework called Holochain that is used to create completely distributed, peer-to-peer applications. Holochain apps outperform blockchain in terms of flexibility, robustness, scalability, and efficiency by thousands of times (no token or mining required). We love Holochain ourselves, and we are thoroughly excited to test out EVERYTHING Neighbourhoods has to offer!

The $NHT Token has been a top gainer in the past 7 days which is also a bullish indicator that the community highly believe in this project, and rightly so!
